listen to me read it... (987k mp3)

If I could just concentrate on one thing, I would be unstoppable.

I could accomplish anything with my one-pointed attention.

If I could learn to play guitar,

If I could learn to pronounce vowels with the umlaut,

If I could learn to paint in the abstract impressionist style,

If I could just align my damn chakras,

I could just go home,

I could just do the dishes,

I could just finish this poem

and make the perfect fried egg for a fried egg sandwich

just slightly between over easy and over medium,

If I could just concentrate on one thing!

If I could just wake up every morning at six am

do yoga, take a shower, sit in quiet contemplation,

pick out clothes that matched, write in my journal,

go for a brisk jog,

and make myself a hot bowl

of steel-cut oats everything could be ok every day!

I know it would, if I could just concentrate on one thing.

If I could just develop self-confidence

If I could just develop loving-kindness,

If I could just get Jodi Meadows in bed,

I know we'd live happily ever after

Even though our sixth houses don't

Conjunct with my Venus.

I'm sure of it.

Then I could just concentrate on one thing.

I could just put every extra penny

towards paying off my debt,

no, paying my car insurance,

nono, a trip to nepal,

no, my very own secret labratory!

That's where I could find the cure,

for not being able to concentrate on one thing!

If I could just concentrate on one thing,

I could just market my goods and services,

I could just read all great literature,

I could just live for the moment,

I could perfect

the Art

of the Deal.

I could just concentrate on one thing.

And if I could just concentrate on one thing....

I could just concentrate on one thing.
